At the end of 2008, Uzavtosanoat SC, General Motors Corporation and one of the biggest technical universities in Europe Turin Polytechnic University (Italy) reached an agreement on organization of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
The University officially established in April 2009, after the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On organizing the activities of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent”.
In accordance with the strategic development plan, the University should become the main source of human resources not only for automotive industry, but also for construction and architecture, energy engineering and information technologies. Admission is organized each year for the following five directions of the Bachelor’s program: “Mechanical Engineering”, “Energy Engineering” “Aerospace Engineering”, “Civil Engineering and Architecture”, “Information Technologies and Automatic Control System in Industry” and also in two specialties of the Master’s program: “Mechanical Engineering” and “Mechatronics”.

July – admission of the first 200 students.
March – three University employees were sent to study PhD at Turin Polytechnic University (as of today the University has sent in total fifteen employees to foreign universities for PhD studies).
May – an academic lyceum specializing on preparation of pupils on exact sciences was established at the University.
June – a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with Hexagon metrology S.P.A. in the field of applied metrology.
August – visit of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the University. Official opening ceremony and commissioning of a modern building with academic and administrative sections and sports complex.
November – the first workshop conference “Week of Science” among students was held.
December – closer cooperation with GTZ Regional Program (Germany) in the fields of education, research and exchange of experience.
February – signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Korean Polytechnic University to support further development of automobile technologies and businesses between two countries.
September – building of the academic lyceum at the University came into operation. A total capacity is mentioned for 450 pupils.
September – in order to organize highly qualified teacher’s team at the University, on top of three teachers who started PhD at Politecnico di Torino from 2010/2011 academic year, additional another six teachers were given grants to study the same program at Politecnico.
September – start of cooperation with “Ideal PLM CIS” Company Limited (Russia). The target of the cooperation is to advance programming support of Siemens PLM technologies in automobile industry and related manufacturing companies of Uzbekistan.
October – nine employees were trained in training centers of companies Hexagon (Italy), Festo didactic (Germanу). Four of them received certificates for training activities in 3D modeling of Unigraphics (NX) & Cimatron programs. Two employees of the University studied the educational process at technical universities of South Korea in the field of “Information Technology”.
October – a Metrology Center was established at TTPU in cooperation with Italian company Hexagon Metrology S.P.A.
October – start of TEMPUS project, TERSID – Technical Education on Resource Savings for Industrial Development.
November – establishment of Mechatronics Center at the University with the support of General Motors Powertrain JSC and the German company Festo.
December – the “CAD / CAM / CAE” center was launched.
August – a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Seoul National University.
October – signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with GÜHRIN oHG company. Partners – “Uzavtosanoat” JSC, TTPU and GÜHRIN oHG company (in prospect the cooperation with GÜHRIN oHG was enhanced up to establishing of modern plant on production of metal-cutting equipment).
May – the third generation of a robot (Robotjon) “Robotjon-3” was developed. The robot can independently move and speak in Uzbek language.
July – a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of seismology was signed with Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Germany.
October – “GURING” training center was established.
October – a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with the German company CLAAS.
October – establishment of a CLAAS Training Center in cooperation with the CLAAS “Uz CLAAS Agro” LLC.
October – establishment of a Siemens Training Center in cooperation with Siemens PLM Software (“Ideal PLM CIS” LLC).
December – start of TEMPUS project, MACH – Introduction of new Master program and Doctoral courses in Mechatronics in Uzbekistan.
March – establishment of MAN Training Center in cooperation with MAN Truck & Bust AG company and “JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan” LLC.
March – Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Hanyang, Republic of Korea was signed.
March – fifteen graduate students of TTPU were awarded with grants to study at Politecnico di Torino (Italy).
June – Memorandum of Cooperation in education and research was signed with National Institute of Technology, Gifu College, Japan.
September – constructed and modernized cotton picking machine (HUM) by engineers and students was successfully tested in cotton fields.
December – a TTPU student was awarded with the medal of “Shukhrat”.
February – Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with the University of Aix Marcel (MADIREL), France.
September – admission to the Master’s Degree program in Mechatronics.
October – start of Erasmus+ project ECCUM – Establishment of Computing Centers and Curriculum Development in Mathematical Engineering Master program.
December – a TTPU student was awarded with the badge of “O’zbekiston belgisi”.
December – TTPU was one of the first among the technical universities of Uzbekistan to receive an international certificate ISO 9001:2008 in the sphere of providing educational services.
February – Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany.
August – ten employees of the University were awarded with the badges of “O’zbekiston mustaqilligiga 25 yil”.
October – start of Erasmus + “Development of Master Program in Renewable Energy Sources and Sustainable Environment – RENES” project.
November – the first graduate student of the University enrolled to a doctorate program (PhD) of Turin Polytechnic University (Italy) on a grant basis.
November – TTPU signed a Cooperation Agreement with Kostanay State University (Kazakhstan) named after Ahmed Baitursynov. The target is to cooperate in the field of personnel training for automobile industry.
December – the school of basic doctoral studies started functioning (Institute of Senior Research Scientists) at the University.
March – eight alumnus of the University, after successful graduation from Master’s Degree programs at Politecnico di Torino (Italy), were enrolled to the school of basic doctoral studies of the University.
May – eight alumnus of TTPU became grant holders of Islam Karimov Fund to study in Master’s program at European leading universities (overall 12 grants were allocated).
June-September – The University students among the official delegation of Uzbekistan participated in the International exhibition “EXPO-2017” held in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan).
July – Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between “Moscow Center for Structural Adjustments of Industry“ (Moscow, Russian Federation) and Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
July – a TTPU graduate student was appointed as a Deputy Director of the Agency for Science and Technology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
September – a University employee was awarded with the order “Mehnat shuhrati”.
October – was signed an Agreement of Cooperation in the academic and scientific sphere between TTPU and Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov, Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
October – was signed an Agreement of Cooperation in the academic and scientific fields between TTPU and Osh Technological University named after
M. M. Adyshev, Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
October – Memorandum of Understanding was signed with China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay (China).
October – a group of university students represented Uzbekistan in the World Festival of Youth and Students held in Sochi (Russian Federation).
November – a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with scientific and research company “AVL List GmbH”. The main purpose is to conduct joint researches in the sphere of reduction and controlling environment pollution by automotive transport as well as implementation of latest European emission and fuel consumption standards.
February – on the basis of the Bachelor’s program “Mechanical Engineering” a new educational filed “Aerospace Engineering” was launched. This direction is meant to prepare aviation engineers for the National air company “Uzbekistan airways”.
